Nestled in the heart of the Dallas Arts District, the AT&T Performing Arts Center is hailed as one the most significant performing arts centers, operating three of the nation’s finest performance venues, including the Winspear Opera House, Wyly Theatre, Strauss Square and Sammons Park. The Center hosts a number of shows year-round from theatre to ballet to holiday shows and a speaker series.
The Sammons Center for the Arts opened in 1988 as a national model of arts incubator and is uniquely focused on the needs of local performing artists, art groups, audiences, and arts education and support people of all ages and backgrounds. The building houses two major performance halls and offers a variety of shows including the music, dance and theater.
Located on the Fair Park grounds, the Music Hall’s history dates back to 1925. Its unique capabilities to accommodate full-scale opera and musical touring productions make this performance hall an excellent venue to enjoy a show. The Music Hall provides year-round entertainment including hosting big-name concerts and highly acclaimed Broadway shows.
The Meyerson opened its doors in 1989 and is home to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra (DSO). Every detail of the concert hall was designed to achieve the highest acoustical quality, and has earned international claim as one of the greatest concert halls in the world. The DSO’s annual programming including classical, holiday-themed, and family-friendly shows are not to be missed.
The Majestic Theatre is the centerpiece of the Downtown Dallas's historic entertainment center. The theater, recognized as a historical landmark at both the state and national level, opened its doors in 1921, and remains to date one of the most elegant performing arts in the Southwest.
Dallas Black Dance Theatre is an internationally recognized professional dance company that presents performances from the African American experience. Since the company was founded in 1976, its dancers have performed in 16 countries, including at two Olympics, the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Lincoln Center in New York City, and before the Queen of England. DBDT was the first Texas performing arts group to perform in South Africa for Nelson Mandela in 1998.
