Celebrate Pride Month in Dallas
Six ways to celebrate and support the LGBTQ+ community.
Dallas is home to the sixth largest LGBTQ+ community in the nation and is one of the most welcoming, gay-friendly cities in the country. For 40 years, Dallas residents have celebrated Pride and “living out proud” throughout Pride Month, which moved from September to June in 2019. Here are a few ways you can celebrate the LGBTQ+ community this month.
1. Celebrate 40 Years of Dallas Pride at the Pride Festival and Pride Parade!
Head to Fair Park on June 3 for a day of Dallas Pride fun! The Dallas Pride Miller Lite Music Festival will feature incredible music, art, food, merch and exhibits. Celebrate with the whole family at the Family Pride Zone which includes games, entertainment, bounce houses, face painters and more. The Teen Zone is an annual event that aims to create a fun, safe space for LGBTQ+ teens to authentically celebrate who they are.
Return to Fair Park on June 4 and wear your pride colors and pick your favorite float at The Alan Ross Texas Freedom Parade that will encircle the iconic Cotton Bowl!
2. Visit the rainbow crosswalks
The Oak Lawn neighborhood recently added some new artwork with its first installation of rainbow crosswalks. You can find them at the intersections of Cedar Springs Road and Oak Lawn Avenue. Stop by and take the perfect Pride selfie!
3. Let Your Spirit Blossom At Pride In Bloom
Don’t miss the 2nd annual Pride in Bloom on June 10-11. The event returns with two full days of music, chef demos and local vendors. All partners are LGBTQ+ owned and operated, so support the community all weekend at the Dallas Arboretum!
