Overview
The Playwright is our city’s newest Irish pub, offering hundreds of whiskeys, wide selection of beers on tap and foods you can only find in an Irish pub. It’s making the Arts District the best place to get dishes such as shepherd’s pie, bangers and mash, and Guinness ice cream — all made in-house.
And it is a place where, truly, everybody knows your name.
This intimacy comes from the people behind The Crafty Irishman, just across downtown on Main Street. Both establishments are owned and operated by a native of Ireland who has made Downtown Dallas his home. Both locations share the same vibe: Warm woods and lighting offer a comfortable environment, while an expanded bar provides room for even more whiskey bottles.
At the Playwright, these bottles provide more than a drink to have after a performance across the street. Here, you can get a tasting of whiskies, exploring where they come from, how they’re made and how that affects the flavor. You can spice up your dinner courses with tastings. You can even discover how this beverage pairs with authentic Belgian chocolate.
The Playwright will give you what you need: sustenance and libations. It also represents the soul of the Irish pub: the community of home.
