How to Keep Your New Years Resolution Going
Every January we burst into the year with new energy and a bunch of resolutions we're dead set on keeping. But by the time February rolls around those resolutions have dwindled into half-hearted promises we know are about to fade ways. It doesn’t have to be that way this year. doesn't have to be this way. Dallas provides plenty of ways to stay true to your resolution while still having a blast.

Drink Less
Are you one of the millions that might not have sworn off drinking forever, but at least want to make it through January without a sip of libations? Well you are in luck. Dallas is full of bars, restaurants and breweries (yes, breweries) where you can hang with friends while sipping on drinks all without a drop of alcohol.
There is no shortage of bars with a sublime mocktail list. Bar Louie, At Bistro and The Monarch are just a few of Dallas’s upscale spots that have embraced the mocktail movement. If you want to relive the 70s in all its glory while maintaining a levelhead, scoot on over to the Design District’s Double D’s night club. The drink menu includes a long list like the Disco Party made with non alcoholic tequila and orange cordial or the Footloose made with non alcoholic whiskey, lemon, sour and mint.
If you want to join your craft beer-loving buddies for an afternoon, suggest meeting up at Community Beer Co. in downtown Dallas. In addition to 12 housemade craft beers on tap, four housemade ciders and a long list of cocktails, the local beer company also makes five varieties of non-alcoholic beer for you to choose from. Not only are they alcohol-free, each NA beer has a max of 30 calories per serving, so you can drink all you want without worrying about developing a mock-beer belly.
Eat Better
Yes Dallas has its share of mouth-watering Tex-Mex restaurants and finger-licking BBQ joints, but it's also a haven for health-conscious foodies. And no, we are not talking about restaurants with a decent salad menu. We are talking about sit-down meals as delectable as any place serving a Tomahawk Steak.Dive Coastal Cuisine offers a feast for health-conscious diners with daily-selected seasonal seafood, organic produce, and non-GMO, grass-fed, hormone-free ingredients. The Bishop Arts district’ Tribal All Day Café, a neighborhood caters to health-conscious diners with its primarily vegetarian and vegan menu while the Slutty Vegan in downtown is all vegan, all the time.
Dallas has plenty of juice bar options for those more into drinking their greens than eating them. Juice Babe is a grab-and-go juice bar in the medical district. The GEM Organic Food & Juice Bar hits all the right healthy marks. They are vegan-friendly, dairy free and gluten free and yet they are still super tasty. With four locations around Dallas, The Juice Bar cold-presses fruit and veggies with two tons of hydraulic pressure to create fresh juice every day.
Exercise More
Waking up at the crack of dawn for the gym isn't the only way to keep fit. In fact, science says that workout fun translates into workout commitment. Lucky for you, living in Dallas means that fun-filled fitness options are right on your doorstep.
Dallas is full of great spots to hike, bike, jog, paddleboard and roller blade. Take advantage of our mild winter weather with outdoor exercise at White Rock Lake, the Santa Fe Trail or the Katy Trail. If you want more specific workout classes, check out the outdoor fitness schedule at Klyde Warren Park. The park host a wide range of classes including boot camps, yoga, tai chi and Zumba. The best part is the classes are free so you won’t break the bank while trying to stay in shape.
Occasionally our perfect weather does get too cold (or too hot) to exercise outdoors. Fear not. Extreme weather does not stop the active fun at Another Round. This indoor mini-golf spot has two courses to play. While they might not have you breaking a sweat, but their outdoor pickleball courts might. Either way you are guaranteed to rack up the steps, engage your agility, and - with any luck - work those abs with bouts of belly laughter alongside your friends.
