A Day in Dallas: Cimone Key
The entrepreneur dishes on her favorite spots in the city.
When you think of what your perfect day is like, what does it include? Good food? Quality time with friends? This is something we asked Cimone Key, the owner of Cimone Key Creative Studio and CK Creative Desk, a branding agency and co-working space for creative entrepreneurs located in Dallas' Design District. Key, whose military family kept her traveling, is happy to call Dallas home. "This is the longest I've been in one place," Key explained. "I started my career here and I started my business here. I just loved it so much. A lot of entrepreneurs, a lot of go-getters, a lot of ambition." Here's a look at Cimone's perfect day in Dallas!
Morning: "I love to work out in the morning," Key began. "It really gets my day going. I either work out at my apartment gym, or I go over to Teamroc Fitness in North Dallas. After a work out session, I usually write down a to-do list for me and my team for that particular day or week and head to the office for our morning meeting. I'm not a huge coffee or tea person, but on the weekends my fiancé and I love to go to Jonathan's Oak Cliff. I love their chicken and waffles!"
Afternoon: "I love the Dallas Museum of Art, and I like that there is always a new exhibit to see," Key said. "I love art in general, and I've been missing the museum experience this year with the pandemic. I love Klyde Warren Park, too. It's fun to eat lunch at the food trucks there and just enjoy the weather."
Evening: "I love going to Deep Ellum at night," Key said. "I'm a foodie so I really like Emporium Pies and the beignets from Le Bon Temps. Angry Dog has really good hotdogs and wings. They have some really great nachos as well! I'm a really old soul and I love live jazz music. I'm also a big concert buff and love the House of Blues."
For the past months Key has not only had to alter her moves due to Covid-19 restrictions, but running her business has left her with a lack of down time, something she's looking to restore. Recently, she had a staycation at the Virgin Hotels Dallas for her birthday. And being a foodie, some restaurant outings are also in store. Key is excited to visit new-to-her restaurants like Ferris Wheelers Backyard & BBQ. "Their barbecue looks amazing!"
On the #ShopLocal front, Key has her staples. "I usually go to Brown Bag Provisions. It's actually located inside the International on Turtle Creek Design Center, where my business is located. I really like their grilled cheese BLT, and you can add a fried egg on top. They also make their own bread from scratch, and I love that they're a small business."
