Spinster Records
Spinster is so much more than a record store. Founded by former music multi-hyphenate David Grover, the Oak Cliff shop offers vinyls both old and new alongside music-inspired accessories and enough clothing options to satisfy fans of all genres. Spinster is even known to throw a record signing party or label showcase every now and then.
Off The Record
This hybrid bar-vinyl store in Deep Ellum gives music lovers a stylish place to hang out, party or partake in a few delicious drinks while talking tunes. Customers can choose from over 20 beers on taps and over 2,000 vinyl records curated by Lower Greenville’s Good Records. While the combination of pub and records seems like a no-brainer, Dallas is only the second city in the U.S. to offer such a magical merger.
Good Records
In addition to being a good place to buy records, this fittingly titled store is a cool place to kick it. Maybe it's their weekly rock-and-roll movie nights, or maybe it's their superb slate of concerts courtesy of local and national acts eager to engage with fans. Whatever the reason, Good Records has become a Lower Greenville staple worthy of its status as a favorite spot for musicians, music fans and vinyl veterans alike.
Josey Records
Crate diggers unite - in addition to all the vinyls you could ever desire, Josey Records also sells CDs, DVDs and cassette tapes from every genre imaginable. Part of the vinyl boom that struck Dallas in 2014, Josey Records also has a listening station where patrons can listen to records before they purchase. The store takes their devotion to music and music lovers even further by offering up their shop as a gallery space for local artists. This hip shop is located just Northwest of Dallas in Farmers Branch.
Bill's Records
Next time you’re thinking about perusing online stores for a record or relic, just drive to Bill’s instead. The record store has been a neighborhood staple in the historic Cedars neighborhood for nearly half a century, and the man behind the counter knows it all and then some. Bill Wisener’s music mecca is open to long-time collectors and newbies, and the doors are always open for fans looking to browse, buy or chat about the classics.
Dolly Python
Gretchen Bell’s Dolly Python store has been enhancing wardrobes for over a decade, but don’t expect to find anything you could buy at any ‘ol store. Bell’s space is strictly old school, both in terms of music and memorabilia. Dolly Python offers endless oddities of unique antiques, creative clothing and enough music to keep you browsing and buying for hours. It’s no wonder that everyone from Jean Paul Gaultier to Kacey Musgraves has made their way to this must-see store.
