5 Spots to Get Mezcal in Dallas
The best mezcalerias and tequila bars in the city.
Mezcalerias are popping up all over Dallas. Check out where to try the smoky spirit. Salud!
Las Almas Rotas
Located in Expo Park near Fair Park, Las Almas Rotas originally began as a private mezcal social club in Bishop Arts. The mezcaleria offers a variety of mezcales, sotol and tequila. Make sure to come hungry; their food menu offers tamales and tacos with fresh house-made tortillas.
La Viuda Negra
Dallas' newest mezcaleria is located a few doors down from El Come Taco (also co-owners of the new spot) on Fitzhugh Avenue. The mezcaleria goes beyond mezcal and puts some focus on pulque, an agave-based beverage made from the fermented sap of the plant. Pair your drink with an item (or two) from their Mexican street food menu.
Ruins
Located in Deep Ellum, Ruins is a Mexican and South American-inspired bar and music venue. The bar offers Mexican food favorites like El Borracho, the restaurant's twist on a pambazo, a popular Mexican sandwich smothered in red chile sauce, tacos and nopalitos. If you're feeling a little adventurous, try a shot of mezcal that comes with a side of chapulines (grasshoppers).
Vidorra
This Deep Ellum newcomer has one of the best rooftop patios in the city with stunning views of the Dallas skyline. It's the perfect spot to enjoy one of their delicious mezcal-based cocktails, like The Oaxacan Sun and A Night in Tulum, or sip on one of their more than 50 tequilas. Their creative taco options are also a must-try.
Meso Maya
A local favorite, Meso Maya is known for its delicious cuisine and margaritas. Change things up next time you go with one of their Oaxacan mezcal cocktails, like Azul y Verde which is mixed with tequila blanco, Cointreau, muddled serrano pepper, cilantro and fresh-squeezed lime and pineapple juices.
